Kinesiotaping in pregnancy

Although pregnancy is a wonderful and beautiful time for women, many of us also experience its unpleasant symptoms. Fortunately, most of these can be largely alleviated by an experienced urogynaecological therapist assisted by kinesiotaping.

What is kinesiotaping?

Taping is a safe way to reduce pain during pregnancy. It works best to complement and prolong the effects of urogynaecological physiotherapy. Taping, developed in the 1970s by Dr Kenzo Kase, works by stimulating the nervous system, reducing pain as well as stabilising the spine and improving posture.

❗The important thing is that kinesiotaping plasters are flexible, breathable and work perfectly with our bodies without restricting our movements.

What pregnancy ailments can kinesiotaping help with?

🔹 Back pain, pelvic pain, hip pain, knee pain,

🔹 Abdominal pain and tension,

🔹 sciatica,

🔹 dilation and pain of the pubic conjunctiva,

🔹 swelling of the arms and legs.

What ailments can kinesiotaping help with after pregnancy?

🔹 diastasis of the rectus abdominis muscle,

🔹 weakness of the abdominal muscles (straight and oblique),

🔹 Breast pain associated with breast inflow or milk stasis,

🔹 Back pain, pelvic pain, hip pain, knee pain,

🔹 sciatica,

🔹 dilation and pain of the pubic conjunctiva,

🔹 swelling of the arms and legs,

🔹 painful and inflexible cc scar.

How long does kinesiotaping last on the skin?

This is an individual issue and depends on:

🔹 quality of slices,

🔹 skills and experience of the physiotherapist applying the patches,

🔹 perspiration of the skin, this is an individual matter (the greater the perspiration, the shorter the patch stays on the body),

🔹 weather (patches peel off faster during hot weather),

🔹 Soaking frequency of slices.

On average, the patches last between 4 and 6 days.

Is kinesiotaping during pregnancy safe?

Yes, it is completely safe provided that the urogynaecological physiotherapist uses taping from proven companies and hypoallergenic tapes. Most importantly, it is non-invasive!

To sum up...

As the baby grows in the abdomen, the anterior tilt of the pelvis increases and the motorisation of the entire body changes. There is a disturbance in the tension of the muscle and fascial chains, which causes pain and has a significant impact on a woman's quality of life.
