What does speech therapy for children involve?
The speech therapist deals with the prevention of speech and communication disorders, the diagnosis of articulatory disorders and language development, and therapy consisting of speech and communication shaping or intervention in cases of dysfunction.
When is speech therapy needed in a child?
Where a child:
- distorts words;
- says unintelligible to those around him;
- has difficulties with fluent speech;
- his rate of speech is too fast or too slow;
- his speech is monotonous,
- without melody;
- incorrectly uses grammatical forms;
- has a lack of vocabulary;
- expresses himself in short, non-expansive sentences, in a telegraphic style;
- statements are illogical, inadequate;
- does not understand instructions; sometimes does not speak at all or speaks only to selected people;
- has defective speech organs or an abnormal occlusion;
- has abnormal hearing or frequent upper respiratory infections.

How long do the classes last?
Single classes with a speech therapist last: 30 minutes
How long does the whole therapy take?
The duration of therapy is individually tailored for each patient. Parents also receive instructions for working with their child at home.
How to prepare for a visit?
For your first therapy appointment, please bring a notebook which we will use to collect and store any materials used during therapy. It will also serve as a resource for practising at home.
