What is sensory integration (SI)?
Sensory integration therapy is carried out by a qualified therapist following a prior diagnosis. The therapy can be compared to „scientific play”, during which the child integrates sensory stimuli and experiences flowing into the central nervous system. The therapist stimulates the child's senses and improves processes such as motor skills or eye-hand coordination. His or her task is to apply appropriate techniques to eliminate or suppress unwanted stimuli.

What it looks like andsensory integration (SI)?
During sensory integration therapy, the therapist sets the child tasks that are challenging for the child and his or her nervous system; they must be neither too difficult nor too easy. By balancing the child's abilities, the child's nervous system is improved and learning processes are positively influenced. Unfortunately, children do not grow out of sensory integration problems. Problems „grow” together with the children, so early intervention is important in order to take proper care of correct and harmonious development. The classes at Kids Medic are based on an individually tailored programme for each child. The classes are led by physiotherapists with many years of experience in working with children, in addition during the classes they are also able to work on posture defects, foot therapy - all in order to ensure that the child's development is harmonious. After each class, the therapist discusses what he or she has worked on in the classroom with the child today and often gives tips for parents to work on at home. It is important for us to work together with the parents, as this is when the therapy has the best effect. Therefore, before each session, the parent has the opportunity to talk to the therapist for a while and let him or her know if anything has happened that is worrying over the past week.

For whom andsensory integration (SI)?
For children from 1 year of age.
How long do the classes last?
Single classes with a physiotherapist last: 45 min
How long does the whole therapy take?
Sensory integration therapy is a long-term process. Children often attend classes for up to several years and sometimes it is enough to reinforce during a few meetings and give parents instructions to work at home. The duration depends on the individual needs of the child.
How to prepare for a visit?
For the first visit, it is a good idea for the parent to bring the Sensory Integration Diagnosis and any therapeutic documentation of the child. It is a good idea to think about what the child has the most problems with in everyday functioning, and to remember how the child's development has progressed. If your child will not be in sportswear you should have one for a change.
