Karolina Dziekan
Psychologist

Hi, my name is Karolina Dziekan

Karolina Dziekan
Psychologist

I am fulfilled in my professional journey as a psychologist, supporting families with young children, older children and teenagers. I have completed the Kids Skills course - this is a solution-focused therapeutic approach that is dedicated to working with children. The method is based on supporting children to develop skills to cope with different challenges, by transforming problems into skills to be acquired.

I help parents with doubts about their child's development and who feel they are finding it difficult in being mum_dad. Together we look for ideas on how to get back into parenting balance.

I cover areas such as:

  • adaptation of children to institutions
  • attendance crises and difficulties in relationships with peers and educators
  • parent-child communication
  • difficult emotions and difficult behaviour of children
  • change (move, separation of parents, illness, change of institution, death of a loved one)
  • anxiety and tension
  • parent's boundaries and child's boundaries
  • wetting, habitual constipation
  • eating disorders
  • children's sexuality
  • highly vulnerable children
  • children with symptoms of shyness
  • children with symptoms of low self-esteem
  • parental burnout

I work in the spirit of Intimacy Parenting, NVC and draw from Solution Focused Therapy. I draw on pillars such as relationship, communication, emotions, the needs of the child, the needs of the parent and current knowledge from developmental neuropsychology.

Please come to the first consultation without your child. The aim of this meeting will be to take a history, establish the purpose of psychological support, hear your needs and prepare a therapy plan. You can come alone or with the other parent/guardian or another family member whose presence you think would be helpful.

I invite you for solutions, a broader perspective, breath and knowledge.

I have been working with nurseries and pre-schools for over 13 years and supporting parents and educators with one-to-one consultations.

I have a master's degree in psychology with a specialization in clinical psychology (SWPS University) and a postgraduate degree in psychological diagnosis in clinical practice (SWPS University). I have participated in courses and trainings in the field of developmental psychology, methods of working with children, early intervention and mental health of young children, among others at the Institute of Mother and Child and the Academic Centre for Psychotherapy and Development at SWPS University.

I took my first steps in supporting parents and children during my internship at the Clinic for Bone Marrow Transplantation, Haematology and Paediatric Oncology in Wrocław and at the Academic Centre for Psychotherapy and Psychological Counselling at SWPS University.
