Na czym polega terapia karmienia u młodzieży ?

More and more children are having difficulties with eating. It is normal for parents to be concerned about their child's eating. I know that nutrition has a huge impact on children's health and development.

It is extremely important to take action at the first signs of worrying eating behaviour. Failure to intervene at an early stage very often results in increasing difficulties with food intake, avoidance of meals or emotional disturbances.

Parents who want to feed their child use various methods, persuasion, bribery, distraction. Such methods do not work in the long term. Applying pressure to children unfortunately only reinforces food refusal and aversion. In doing so, the relationship and bonding between family members deteriorates, and mealtimes are the worst time of the day.

It is a good idea to come to the specialist's surgery and discuss any feeding concerns. You may need to seek further diagnosis from other specialists.

As a parent, time does not work in your favour. Worsening eating disorders will adversely affect your child's normal development.

Feeding therapy is a theory of small steps. Setting the bar too high can be a big hurdle!

Terapia karmienia ma na celu naukę spożywania pokarmu w bezpieczny i komfortowy sposób. Staramy się, by dziecko  stopniowo poprzez zabawę oswoiło i poznawało nowe produkty. Jedzenie ma być przyjemnością, a nie koniecznością.

What it looks like terapia karmienia u młodzieży?

In the case of a consultation with a Dietitian, the first point is to fill in a questionnaire (to be collected at reception or sent by email). The questionnaire should be returned 2 days before the planned appointment. After the meeting, the parent is informed about the proposed therapeutic plan , the possible need for medical consultations, the frequency of appointments. For the first meeting with the dietician, the parent comes without the child, so that the type of difficulty can be freely named. The frequency of subsequent meetings is determined by the therapist.

The Feeding Therapist at our centre is also a Neurologist, who always invites the parent with the child to the first visit - in order to make a neurologopaedic diagnosis, on the basis of which she develops a feeding therapy plan.
